RMU Hoops Announces 2017-18 Schedule

Robert Morris men’s basketball officially announced its 2017-18 schedule Thursday, highlighted by 12 home games, four of which will be played at undetermined sites.

With construction of the new UPMC Events Center underway, the Colonials are being forced to play home games off campus this season. PittsburghSportsNow.com reported earlier this month school officials were still finalizing locations for all home games due to conflicting schedule issues with PPG Paints Arena.

The Colonials open the season on a seven-game road trip starting with the opener at Ohio State Nov. 10. Robert Morris will visit five different states during that span, including Arizona, California, Arkansas and New York, before hosting Rider Dec. 6 at PPG in its home opener. It’s the longest stretch to open the season without a home contest for Robert Morris since the 2000-01 campaign.

The Colonials will play a pair of games in the Grand Canyon Classic on the West Coast—the host Antelopes and San Diego—before returning to Pittsburgh to face cross-town rival Duquesne Nov. 19 at the AJ Palumbo Center.

Robert Morris wraps up action in the Grand Canyon Classic in Arkansas with games against Norfolk State (Nov. 24) and Little Rock (Nov. 25). The season-opening road trip concludes with stops at Youngstown State (Nov. 29) and Siena (Dec. 2).

The Rider contest is one of eight home games that will be played at PPG, including a non-conference matchup with Drexel (Dec. 10) and six NEC matchups.

The four home games without a host site yet are Canisius (Dec. 22), St. Francis Brooklyn (Jan. 4), Bryant (Feb. 15), and Central Connecticut (Feb. 17).

Robert Morris won both games it played at PPG last year, edging Duquesne, 64-60, and clipping Buffalo, 74-71.
