Members of the St. Frances Academy High School football team made a visit to the Pitt football complex yesterday.

While they were there, four members of the group received offers from Pitt including sophomore wide receiver Traeshon Holden.

Holden (6-foot-3, 180 pounds) is a tall playmaking wideout that previously received offers from Florida, Maryland and Michigan.

This was Holden’s first trip to Pittsburgh and it sounds like it won’t be his last one.

“I really liked how when the coaches came around to talk to us they told us that if you come here, it’s a family. That’s exactly what I’m looking for when I go to college. I don’t want to be a guy that they recruit real heavy and then when I get there, they barely talk to us and we barely know them. They really made it seem like that’s not what happens at Pitt,” said Holden.

”That was my first time being up there so when we went to the indoor facility, they were telling us how the Steelers share it with them which is really cool to be able to be next door to an NFL team and NFL players.”

I asked Holden about receiving the offer and what was said to him.

“I received the offer from Coach Sherman. We were talking about how to breakdown coverages and when I’m at the line of scrimmage how I can tell what coverage they’re in by looking at the safety. He then was telling me how he really liked my film and how explosive I was and as we were walking he said I want to let you know that you have an offer,” said Holden.

“I was really excited because I wasn’t expecting anything. I actually can picture myself going there too.”

The visit to Pitt was the start of a number of planned visits for the St. Frances Academy football team. Today they were at Virginia and then on Monday they’ll be making trips to South Carolina, North Carolina, NC State, Duke, Clemson and West Virginia.
