The ACC has announced its 2019 football schedule, and for the first time, Pitt will open its season with a Coastal Division opponent.

The Panthers will host Virginia at Heinz Field on Aug. 31 to kick off the 2019 season, with that game bumped up from its originally scheduled date to accommodate the ACC’s desire to fill the launch of the ACC Network with conference games.
The only other time Pitt has started the season against an ACC opponent was in 2013, when the Panthers hosted Florida State.

The opener against the Cavaliers will be followed by Ohio at home on Sept. 7, a trip up the road to Happy Valley on Sept. 14 and visits from UCF (Sept. 21) and Delaware (Sept. 28).

A trip to Duke on Oct. 5 will mark the midpoint of the Panthers’ schedule, and they’ll have an idle weekend before traveling to Syracuse on Friday, Oct. 18, the first of two weeknight games.

Pitt will host Miami on Oct. 26, travel to Georgia Tech on Nov. 2 and then have another off week before hosting North Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Heinz Field.

The Panthers will visit Blacksburg, Virginia on Nov. 23 to close the road portion of their schedule, and traditional Big East foe Boston College will come to Pittsburgh two days after Thanksgiving on Nov. 30 to round out Pitt’s 2019 regular season.
