“Running Back U” just hosted two of the top junior backs in the country.
New Jersey four-star recruit Jalen Berger (Don Bosco Prep) and New York four-star back Tirek Murphy both made unofficial visits to Pitt yesterday. Berger is rated as the top junior in New Jersey and the 36th best player in the Class of 2020. Murphy is the No. 2-ranked junior in New York.
Murphy (6-foot, 220 pounds) holds major offers from Pitt, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Berger holds offers from Florida, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Pittsburgh Sports Now was able to catch up with Murphy after the visit to get his thoughts on what he saw and heard from head coach Pat Narduzzi, running backs coach Andre Powell and area recruiter Tim Salem.
”My day went good at Pitt. I got to see the facilities and campus which was very beautiful,” said Murphy. “What impressed me most was the campus. I was able to visit the cathedral and see all the class rooms from all the different countries . What surprised me was how close the Steelers were to the Panthers. The Pitt coaches told me that I’m a priority. I was able to meet with Coach Narduzzi and he told me that I looked good. For me to return for an official visit, I will have to keep building with Coach Powell and Coach Salem.
