Jeff Capel Offers 2020 4-Star Forward Josh Hall

Jeff and Jason Capel have a long history of playing and coaching in the state of North Carolina.

As they’re out recruiting, Pitt’s latest offer went to a rising junior from the Tar Heel State.

Josh Hall (6-foot-9, 190 pounds) is a 4-star forward from Moravian Prep in Durham, North Carolina. 247 Sports rates Hall as one of the Top 120 juniors in the country.

“I found out about the offer through a phone call with Coach Capel,” Hall told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I was happy and it was just a blessing to be on the phone and thought so heavily of by such a great coach like Coach Capel.

“He told me that he’s turning the program around and that he wants to coach players who want to win. Also, that he’s very big on player development and that I remind him of some players he has recruited in the past.”

This was the start of what Pitt hopes is a long-term relationship with Hall and their next objective will be to educate him on Pitt basketball and the city of Pittsburgh.

”I don’t really know a lot about Pitt,” said Hall. “ I just know a few players in the past years who have played and that they were a force in the Big East a while back. I’m from Durham, so I know how good of a recruiter and coach he is from his time with Duke, so this is all just pretty cool for me.”

Hall tells me that his biggest strengths are his feel for the game and his ability to score, dribble and pass for a player his height.

Along with Pitt, Hall also holds offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, NC State, Virginia Tech, VCU, Rutgers, Providence, St. Bonaventure, Florida, Wichita State and Cincinnati.

As far as visiting Pitt in the future, Hall says it’s something he’s considering.
