For awhile now, it’s been assumed that Woodland Hills tight end was a good bet to eventually commit to Pitt.
While he very well may still end up doing that, Rawlings to Pitt isn’t by any means a slam dunk. That thought was reinforced after Rawlings made a unofficial visit this weekend to Vanderbilt.
On his drive home today from Nashville, Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Rawlings to get his reaction to Vanderbilt and what’s next.
“I loved the coaching staff and Coach Mason, very impressed, I felt the love from them,” said Rawlings. “And with that I love how he’s focused on how the players grow as men.”
“Coach Fitz showed me how Jared Pinkney was used last year in the run game and how they also spilt him out wide. I believe that I would thrive in that offense.”

The visit to Vanderbilt obviously made a big impression on Rawlings. Was he surprised at how much he enjoyed it?
”I was surprised how the campus is set up. It’s in the heart of the city of Nashville, but it has its own “College Town” feel,” said Rawlings.
“They (Vanderbilt) definitely shot up. Now that I’ve seen it, I can compare it to others.”
What’s next for Rawlings?
“I’ve got an official to Virginia,June 14-16
and then to Minnesota June 18-20.”
Look for a final decision for Rawlings sometime in July.
