Pitt ranks in the top five with another highly rated recruit.

4-star 2020 linebacker Ty Berrong (Port Orange, Florida) released his list of top five schools on Thursday night and the Panthers made the cut.

In no order, Berrong listed Pitt, West Virginia, Nebraska, Purdue and South Florida. Berrong also held offers from Florida, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Central Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota and Indiana.

Back in March, Berrong and his mother visited Pitt and talked to us about what impressed him.

“I honestly loved Pitt,” said Berrong. “It was a really unique city and I’ve never been around something like that and my interest grew a lot from visiting Pitt today. I was able to grow my relationships with the staff.”

“What impressed me the most was the life skills program they have. I haven’t seen anything like it at any other school. What really surprised me was how old the college was. I don’t know that it was that old and unique.”

Tonight, we asked Berrong what specifically allowed Pitt to make his top five.

”I selected them because they are really interested in me and I love the staff,” said Berrong. “What really stood out to me during my trip there was the atmosphere around campus and it’s really cool how they share facilities with the Steelers.”

Berrong tells me the plan is to do the officials after the season and dates have been set up.
