PITTSBURGH — Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi gave his final press briefing before Pitt’s season opener against Virginia on Thursday and the Panthers’ boss had plenty of news to share.

Redshirt freshman running back Mychale Salahuddin is leaving the program after a mutual parting of ways, Narduzzi said. He was passed on the depth chart by true freshman Vincent Davis, one of several that Narduzzi expects to play.

Coach Narduzzi gave a perfect answer when asked about the ability to run the football when he said that’s what we do. It’s next man up time and he has confidence in his guys. Great answer.

He’s definitely confident but last year and this year are totally different because of the experience he had at RB with Ollison and Hall. This year, he has both inexperience at OL and RB. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I also give a lot of credit to the coach for making it clear that after he made the announcement about Salahuddin that he didn’t want to take questions about the situation. He clearly wants to focus on what is instead of what isn’t. He’s focused on the guys in the room and the upcoming game and that’s as it should be so kudos to coach for that.

I can’t get Pitt football off my mind because I can’t wait for this season to get started. I predict AJ Davis will kill it this year at RB and turn a lot of heads around the country with his offensive production. AJ is my offensive breakout player. The breakouts on defense will be Twyman and Baldonado. I can’t wait til Saturday rolls around.

Bummed by the Salahuddin news. I thought that kid was going to be something special. Best of luck to him. Good thing we are deep and have tons of talent at RB.

Yep, me too but next man up. They still have a deep and talented backfield especially if Henry Parrish signs.

Something had to give as they were over scholarship limit. Too many running backs was obvious unless one went to play another position
