PITTSBURGH — Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi confirmed today at his weekly press conference that safety Damar Hamlin will be in uniform and on the field against North Carolina on Thursday night at Heinz Field.
“Damar will be back,” Narduzzi said.
Hamlin was on the sideline for the entirety of Pitt’s 20-10 win against Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Getting Hamlin back in the lineup is vital because Hamlin is the second-leading tackler for the Panthers (49), behind only safety Paris Ford (63).
There was no severe injury given for Hamlin’s absence against Georgia Tech. Narduzzi said that he was “dinged up” and that he could have played if they had needed him.
The bye week came at the perfect time for Hamlin and the Panthers as they face UNC Thursday night.
“Last week was an opportunity for our guys to get fresh,” Narduzzi said.
The Tar Heels remain the only team that Pitt has yet to defeat in the ACC Coastal Division. This game is still meaningful for the Panthers as they stay in the hunt for the division championship.
Hoping for good weather. I’ll see this one in person. Also going to the game against WVU the following night. Hail to Pitt!
Doing the same. Hope Pitt rewards its fans with wins in both!
