Heading into tonight’s game at Florida Gulf Coast, Andy Toole’s team was facing plenty of adversity.

Robert Morris (3-8) came into tonight losing five of their last six games and had two players transfer in the last two days.

To Toole’s credit, they were able to put that behind them and pull out an impressive 64-59 win over Florida Gulf Coast, their first road win of 2019.

The key sequence of the game was with over a minute left in the game and the score tied at 58, Josh Williams knocked down two free throws to give the Colonials a two point lead. On the following possession, Dante Treacy came up with a steal and fed it to Williams, who was fouled and knocked down one of two shots.

“Down the stretch, we came up with some big stops,” said Toole. “That’s what it takes, everybody connected and everybody committed. We’re trying to build some more urgency with our guys. For the majority of the game tonight our guys were in that mindset. That’s an important step in the right direction.”

Not only did Williams hit those big free throws down the stretch but he led Robert Morris in scoring with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
AJ Bramah chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds while Jalen Hawkins contributed 12 points and 5 rebounds.

This was the 19th consecutive game that Robert Morris has won under Toole when holding their opponent under 60 points.

Next up for Robert Morris is a home game on December 17 when they host Central Michigan at the UPMC Events Center.
