Henry Parrish Decommits from Pitt

The rumors have been circulating for so long that it almost seemed inevitable.

Tonight it happened, newly minted four-star running back Henry Parrish announced on Twitter that he’s made the decision to decommit from the Panthers and reopen his recruitment. Parrish has not named the other schools he’s considering, but hasn’t completely ruled out Pitt.

Parrish was recently named the first recipient of the Nat Moore Trophy, which is awarded to the top player in South Florida. The talented running back has made multiple Sportscenter episodes due to his electric runs and his Columbus High School will be playing for the 8A Florida State Championship.

With the decommitment of Parrish, the Panthers now have only one running back in the 2020 Class, Israel Abinkanda, who was also recently elevated to four-stars.

Parrish has been linked to Florida, Miami and South Carolina, but it is unclear whether or not the Hurricanes have room for another running back after recently receiving the commitment of high four-star Jaylan Knighton who joined Don Chaney Jr. a top 247 Composite Top 35 player and the 5th ranked running back in the nation.

As a RB, Why wouldn’t he want to come and run behind a line that can’t run block, for an offense that kicks field goals, and for a program playing in the Quick Lane Bowl???
Yeah he’s making a really bad decision.

Let’s believe… that was idiotic. The program has historically had great backs and a good run game. One bad season. So what! The kid does not know what the word commitment stands for. His loss. He could have had immediate playing time

Not playing behind this Offensive line, we have talented backs the line sucks.

The line is young. One senior. It will get much better. Plus they can add more qualified grad transfers. The backs they have now are not great. I disagree. AJ Davis ran soft and he did not use Carter and Vincent Davis right

I agree about Davis, the line being young is a cop out. They did not show any improvement and Ulizio was trash so why take the chance on another transfer.

He has been looking for a reason to decommit. Miami has stressed they don’t want him. But I guess when the Gators came calling, he liked what he heard. He would have been a nice player to get, but it was painfully obvious he didn’t want to be here. That’s his choice. I think our team will be better off with players who do want to be here.

Many of Pitts Committed recruits have had good senior seasons and their recruit rankings have been upgraded. Then other programs start competing for players committed to pitt.
Clearly, the Pitt coaches are doing a great job scouting talent early. We will lose some recruits, but it appears that we are honing in on some top talent early in their high school careers.

Yep. That’s probably a good sign long-term.

First of all the kid never signed anything. 2. Pitt throws the ball 85% of the time. 3. The Offensive line is terrible. What RB in their right mind would want to come here. Once Naz likes a guy he sticks with him i.e AJ Davis,Kenny Pickett. Leave the kid alone for doing what was best for him .

ONE bad season? Hmm.. 19-19 in last 3 seasons. Losing record when you subtract FCS games (Youngstown, Delaware, etc.).

Can we Pitt fans not just be honest with ourselves?

Pretty sure he was referring to one bad year in the running game. I mean we did just have a pair of 1,000 yard rushers and put James Conner in the NFL when no other school wanted him to play RB. So, there’s that.

Well, Pitt lost at least FIVE games for the third year in a row.. So there’s that.

Again, that wasn’t the point. I’m not disagreeing with the fact that they’ve had bad seasons and probably underperformed. I was simply stating that the person you were calling out about one bad season was obviously talking having a bad year last year with the running game. It’s fair to think a RB might want to come to a school that has a pretty good history of putting very good RBs in the NFL. I think that’s all the original poster was trying to say. Maybe that’s changed under Whipple and that was Parrish’s concern. Or maybe he thinks he… Read more »

You can’t read dude. They should hire Mike Ditka right. And build a 40000 seat stadium in the hill district that way every 5 star player will flock there. What do you suggest they do?

Thank you Kirk. Your reading comprehension is much higher than Jason Sniths. That is exactly what I meant.

I understood your point. In 2017, Pit ranked 87th in Rushing. That would be two years in three that Pitt was in the bottom third nationally. I can read and comprehend just fine.

If it makes you feel better to attack me than face the statistics, thats ok. I can take it . But cheap shots at me won’t change the fact that Narduzzi is a mediocre (at best) recruiter.

Hoping you and all Pitt fans have a great holiday season and Pitt wins the Quick Lane Bowl. H2P

Last year we lost Brandon Mack right around this time. He was one of the commitments that Narduzzi landed after his big weekend in June similar to the group of players (including Parrish) that he got to commit this past June. Our defensive line was fine this season without Mack and our running game will press forward without Parrish. I think we should all focus our energy on who we still have committed because Israel Abinkanda is an excellent prospect that we should all be excited for. I’ve also read a lot of negative comments regarding our offensive line but… Read more »
