On the eve of December National Signing Day, Pat Narduzzi and Pitt receive commitment #17.

Following an official visit last weekend, 3-star safety Buddy Mack (Duncan, South Carolina) called Narduzzi on Tuesday afternoon to let him know he was going to sign with the Panthers.

Mack, who was previously committed to Charlotte, becomes the Panthers third defensive back commitment, joining Georgia 3-star cornerback Hunter Sellers and Florida 4-star safety Jahvante Royal.

Mack (6’1″, 175) is a rangy athlete with speed and is a very physical player. Credit Pitt safeties coach Cory Sanders for the recruitment and the eventual commitment of Mack.

It’s interesting but this is the third recruit that Pitt has gotten from the state of South Carolina in the last two years. Last year, the Panthers signed quarterback Davis Beville from Greenville, South Carolina and defensive end Nate Temple from Abbeville, South Carolina.

The question now is does the addition of Mack end the Panthers recruiting of three other safeties: Derek Bermudez, Lovie Jenkins and Davonte Brown.

We will have more from Mack later tonight as we’re scheduled to speak with him about this decision.
