PITTSBURGH — Pitt wing Au’Diese Toney missed his team’s ACC game against Wake Forest on Saturday with an elbow injury suffered in practice, the team announced.

Toney, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, started eight of Pitt’s first 13 games. He averaged 24.8 minutes per game, scoring 6.4 points and pulling down 4.7 rebounds per game. He was second amongst Panthers in rebounding average.

He was replaced in the starting lineup by junior guard Ryan Murphy. Pitt just got freshman wing Gerald Drumgoole back in the lineup in its non-conference finale against Canisius on Monday. He should also be in line to receive some of Toney’s usual minutes.

Pitt did not give a timetable for Toney’s return to action. Pitt’s next game is on Tuesday at North Carolina.

Nooooo. They need every player they can get. Good rebounder and defender. Just can’t shoot.
