2021 multi-talented athlete CJ Dippre and Pitt have shown mutual interest in each other for the last year so it’s no surprise that when he announced his top 7 that Pitt was one of the schools listed.

Dippre (6’5″, 245), a 3-star athlete from Lakeland High School in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, received his offer from Tim Salem back in February and has been a visitor to Heinz Field multiple times. Dippre is another player that’s seen their recruitment move upward over the last few months.

Having over 15+ offers, Dippre decided on Saturday to cut that list in half by listing these seven schools as his finalists: Pitt, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse, Kentucky, Virginia and Boston College.

Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Dippre to find out exactly why the Panthers made his first cut and where do the Pitt coaches see him fitting into their program?

“Having the chance to be able to visit Pitt before all this happed was a great influence and that I’ve been there a couple of times and love the city and being a Steeler fan definitely had a strong pull,” said Dippre. “Coach Salem texts me a lot and they see me as a tight end and athlete.”

Now that he’s narrowed his list to seven, what’s next for Dippre and has he come up with a timeline for making his final decision?

“Getting down to seven is obviously a big jump from 17 and only time will tell where the process will go from here especially with this pandemic going on,” said Dippre. “I’m planning on deciding in June, no earlier.”
