New Castle’s Geno Stone Drafted in 7th Rd by Baltimore Ravens

New Castle alum Geno Stone was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens with the 219th selection in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft on Saturday.

Stone, a 5-foot-10, 207 pound safety heads to the NFL after three seasons at Iowa, where he wan an all-Big Ten selection as a junior in 2019.

In three years, Stone played 32 games for the Hawkeyes, racking up 126 tackles, including 70 as a junior in 2019. Stone also had six career interceptions, seven passes defended and four tackles for loss.

Stone became the third WPIAL player to be drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, joining Imani Christian’s Kenny Robinson, who went to the Carolina Panthers and McKeesport’s Khaleke Hudson, who was selected by the Washington Redskins, both in the fifth round.

Stone will become second New Castle alum in the NFL, joining Indianapolis Colts safety Malik Hooker.
