Erie forward Will Jeffress committed to Pitt on Tuesday, giving Panthers head coach Jeff Capel the top player in the state of Pennsylvania in the Class of 2020.
Jeffress is a 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward from McDowell High School in Erie. He’s rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 11 power forward in the country in addition to being the No. 1 player in the state.
Originally scheduled to graduate in 2021, Jeffress moved up his recruitment timeline, reclassifying to the Class of 2020 and graduating a year early from McDowell.
Jeffress chose Pitt out of a top 10 that also included Baylor, Memphis, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Villanova and Virginia.
He becomes the fifth player to commit to Pitt in the Class of 2020, joining Cleveland forward John Hugley, Irish center Max Amadasun, New Jersey forward Noah Collier and Brooklyn guard Femi Odukale.
The Panthers still have one remaining open scholarship for the 2020-21 season.
AWESOME!
Live your dreams at Pitt, Will!
