Andy Toole has finalized his coaching staff for the upcoming season.
Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that Robert Morris will hire former Lehigh Director of Basketball Operations Vincent Johnson as an assistant coach on Toole’s staff. Johnson will replace Shane Southwell, who retuned to his alma mater Kansas State as an assistant on Bruce Weber’s staff.
News of this hire was first reported by CBS Sports‘ Jon Rothstein.
Prior to his time at Lehigh, Johnson was head coach at Pope John High School in Sparta, New Jersey. Johnson has also served as an assistant coach, including at his alma mater St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida
Johnson is considered a very energetic, hard-working coach and will bring that energy to his first college assistant job. With Robert Morris moving to the Horizon League, Johnson has strong contacts in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest which will be an asset in the Colonials recruiting.
No official word from the Robert Morris athletic department on when this hire will be made official.
