Pitt is ranked No. 18 in the preseason FloWrestling dual meet rankings in advance of the 2020-21 season.
The Panthers finished 2019 with a 10-4 dual meet record and were ranked No. 9 in the final FloWrestling rankings a season ago.

The Panthers will return five NCAA qualifiers from their 2019-20 squad, with Nino Bonaccorsi, Gregg Harvey, Cole Matthews, Micky Phillippi and Jake Wentzel all scheduled to be back with the Panthers.
Bonaccorsi was 23-5 at 184 pounds, Harvey was 17-8 at 174 pounds, Matthews was 15-9 at 141 pounds, Phillippi was 25-1 at 133 pounds, and Wentzel was 18-7 at 165 pounds.
The Panthers have lost two of their seven NCAA qualifiers from last season: heavyweight Demetrius Thomas and 157-pounder Taleb Rahmani. Kellan Stout, Pitt’s 197-pounder from last season, has also graduated.
Pitt is rated fourth amongst ACC teams in the rankings, behind No. 6 NC State, No. 10 North Carolina and No. 12 Virginia Tech. Iowa is rated No. 1 overall, while in-state foe Penn State is No. 3.
