Any realistic chance Pitt had at a successful season probably was out the window before Pitt took the field against No. 13 Miami on Saturday, with the Panthers dropping back-to-back one-point decisions as favorites against Boston College and NC State.
But an upset against the Hurricanes would have been a step toward getting them back on the right track.
That didn’t happen either, as Pitt got no push in the running game, and couldn’t get enough from the passing game under first-time Pitt starter Joey Yellen to offset a trio of big plays allowed by the Pitt defense.
With the loss, the Panthers have now dropped three straight after starting the season 3-0.
“We had a lot of hopes for this season,” redshirt senior linebacker Phil Campbell III said. “We never would have expected to lose three games in a row. I’m still in shock about it. It’s a tough one to swallow.”
Hear more from Campbell and Yellen from the locker room after the Pitt loss.
I wish Narduzzi was as honest about the performance from him and his staff as the much as these players are.

Tough one to swallow? Did we go into this game expecting to win? All I need to know to about this team is that they tried their best and didn’t give up.

I’m sure our guys feel accountable and will continue to fight and improve through the rest of the year.
You’re right! The pros are watching. Especially when safeties get caught with eyes in the backfield on play action not once but twice this past weekend on the same play. But yeah solid tackler and above average in coverage. 5th to 6th round and a chance to have a nice career.

I wish this site had more positive comments. Everyone has ideas, but what are they doing to support the Pitt program. Take Aaron Donald, he has done more for Pitt than anyone in the history of Pitt football. He donated $1mill, works with the players, and helps (as much as he legally can) recruiting. We need a lot more like him out there. It’s just an idea, but maybe we can get some of our multiple hall of famers out there and help recruit with Pitt outings? We need to do our part and support the program, especially in times… Read more »

Couple of atta boys and a participation trophy should do it.
Does Hamlin still worry about rankings and disrespect? Narduzzi and Whipple need to go!
Wish my job would pay me $4 million to be mediocre. That would be a sweet deal.
Whipples play calling is all over the place.
The pros are watching Hamlin. He led the team in tackles again.
6th round.
