Tight End Lucas Krull to Return to Pitt for 2021 Season

Published

on

Prior to this season, many people anticipated tight end Lucas Krull to not only be a breakout performer but also a major component in Pitt’s passing attack.

With the weapons that Pitt had returning at wide receiver and with the athletic ability that he possess, Krull had an opportunity to turn into a favorite target for Kenny Pickett and bring something to Pitt’s offense that they haven’t had in many years.

Unfortunately for Krull, he was injured during the second game of the season against Syracuse and that injury, which has never been revealed, has turned out to be season ending.

Krull joined the Panthers as a graduate transfer from Florida, which normally meant his college year would be finished. However, because of the coronavirus, this season the NCAA implemented a new rule allowing players to retain their eligibility. Krull now has the opportunity to return to play for Pitt and that’s what he plans on doing.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that Krull intends to return next season and play for the Panthers in 2021.

Considering his athletic ability and the way he can potentially be utilized in an NFL offense, returning to college and being able to put something on tape for NFL teams is the logical move for Krull.

Expect to hear more news about Pitt players that could decided to return next season in the coming days and weeks.

Is there a certain amount of games that disqualify individuals from returning? Everything I’m reading seems to point towards players returning even if they participated in this “season”.

I probably should have paid more attention this year but what does this mean for Kenny Pickett and other Senior members of our team? As much as I’m disappointed in the way this season turned out, I can’t reason with letting Narduzzi go due to the circumstances of this season and how different it’s been for so many programs (Penn State, Michigan, etc.).

So another one of Salem’s failures is coming back….file this under if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound. This whole coaching staff should be let go. Duzz will probably survive (doesn’t deserve another chance but Lykes ridiculous extension of him all but guarantees it). However, the coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball should be let go. OL can’t block, WR cant catch, TE cant recruit one, then the one or 2 TE they get cant catch or stay healthy, RBs are pretty bad and… Read more »

Smart decision by this kid.

1) played in maybe a game and a half this year
2) He’s not NFL material so he might as well get the 2nd year of his masters degree paid for by PITT so he won’t have any school lians

We called him hands of stone down here when he played for UF, really can’t see him doing much for the program.
