Sutton Smith is someone that’s been on Archie Collins radar for a couple of years.
Back in 2019, Smith received an offer from Pitt and today, the junior from Georgia had a conversation with Collins who wanted to make sure he was aware of Pitt’s continued interest. Since the original offer came almost two years ago, Collins decided to re-offer Smith.

Smith (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) is a 2022 wide receiver from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia and Pitt remains his only Power Five offer along with others from Kent State and Florida International.
Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Smith following his conversation with Collins and found out his interest in Pitt is legitimate.
“I actually first got my offer from Pitt when I was a sophomore and today they re-offered me,” said Smith. “They said they were re-offering to show me they were serious about me and since they offered me a while back, I think back in May of 2019. Since the time that I was allowed to start speaking to coaches as a junior, I’ve been talking with Coach Archie Collins. Pitt really seems like they believe in me.”

“Coach Collins is my favorite coach because he was the first coach to believe in me. A couple of years ago, I met him when he came to our school and we had a spring game. Right after that game is when he offered me the first time. No doubt, he’s my favorite coach. We have a good relationship and talk good on the phone and because of that we’ve gotten closer.”
While watching film on Smith, the thing that stands out most is his top-flight speed. As either a receiver or kick/punt returner, when Smith gets a step on you, he’s gone and you’re not going to catch him.
“Pitt is recruiting me as an inside slot receiver,” said Smith. “I’m a guy that can take the top off the defense and gets to the edge. Speed is the most important part of my game. I think this year, I ran a 4.4. I actually sent Coach Collins video yesterday of me running some routes and today he called an re-offered.”
“When I’m returning punts or kickoffs, my key is when I see something I hit it. As a returner, you can’t try and make a lot of moves, you’ve got to go forward because if not, that just allows people to catch up with you. For me, it’s one cut and hit it or one cut and go right up the field. I go North and South.”
Smith wasn’t the only player from McEachern High School that Collins was in contact with, as he also re-offered 2022 3-star quarterback Bryce Archie.
