RMU Forward A.J. Bramah to Enter Transfer Portal

The frustrating and forgettable season for the Robert Morris men’s basketball team added another chapter as their best player has left the team.

Colonials leading scorer A.J. Bramah told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he’s transferring from RMU and will place his name in the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-7 forward was leading Robert Morris in scoring and rebounding with 21 points and 13 rebounds per game.

Speculation regarding this potential news began to surface last week and it became official on Friday. Andy Toole’s team is in the middle of a nine-game losing streak and finds themselves with a record of 3-11 overall and 2-9 in their first season in the Horizon Conference.

The frustration of losing and how this season has played out appears to be the reason for Bramah’s exit from Robert Morris. Bramah’s transfer comes just a year after being a huge component in RMU’s run through the NEC Tournament and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Despite playing two years of JUCO basketball and two seasons at Robert Morris, Bramah will be granted one season of athletic eligibility next season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he will count against the scholarship total of a school that he transfers to.
