The PIAA Wrestling Team Postseason is Underway

Earlier this month. the PIAA crowned its 26 state gold medalists, across both Class-2A and Class-3A, at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, March 12-13. With that, the team portion of the PIAA wrestling postseason has now gotten underway this week.

The action got underway Monday, March 22nd and will conclude Saturday, March 27th to officially conclude a truly one-of-a-kind 2021 PIAA wrestling season in the Keystone State.

As far as WPIAL entrants are concerned, Class-2A powerhouse Burrell (12-1) will face Chestnut Ridge (11-1) Wednesday, March 24th at Burrell High School at 6 p.m.

Chestnut Ridge advanced to the second round after a 41-21 trouncing of Brookville (11-6) Monday night, March 22nd. The winner of Burrell vs. Chestnut Ridge advance to the semifinals this Saturday, March 27th at Cumberland Valley High School. Either Burrell or Chestnut Ridge will face the victor of a Reynolds (16-1) vs. Forest Hills (9-1) matchup, scheduled for March 24th at Greenville.

With respect to the WPIAL and Class-3A, the top team in District 7, Waynesburg Central (13-0), will take on Cathedral Prep (10-1) Wednesday, March 24th at EQT REC Center in Waynesburg  at 6 p.m.

Cathedral Prep to the second round after a 66-0 shutout of Carrick (5-1) Monday night, March 22nd. The winner of Waynesburg vs. Chestnut Cathedral Prep advances to the semifinals this Saturday, March 27th at Cumberland Valley High School. Either Waynesburg or Cathedral Prep will face the victor of a Bellefonte(15-0) vs. Williamsport (11-6) matchup, scheduled for March 24th at Bellefonte High School.
