Former Pitt cornerback Jason Pinnock is officially a member of the NY Jets organization.
Pinnock, who was selected by the Jets in the 5th Round of the just-concluded 2021 NFL Draft has officially signed his first NFL contract. No terms of the deal have been released.
The Jets are one of three NFL teams that will start their NFL Rookie minicamp this weekend.
“Jason, from an analytics standpoint, if you just look at his career analytically, his production is off the charts,” said Jets head coach Robert Saleh. “They (all three Jets drafted CBs) all bring a different style to them and they’re going to get every single opportunity to compete and make an impact on this football team. Any time you bring in competition, I’m going to feel good about it, we’re going to feel good out it, and that’s the biggest thing we’ve done.”
Last season for Pitt, Pinnock started 10 games and recorded a team high 3 interceptions, five pass breakups and 19 tackles. Per Pro Football Focus, only 30% of passes attempted against him were completed, which was the lowest among cornerbacks in the 2020 season.
Pinnock really opened NFL scouts eyes at Pitt’s Pro Day as he ran a 4.4 in the 40 and a 39.5″ vertical jump.
I said before the draft on here that I thought he was underrated. +1 to me.
