Sol Castro of the Robert Morris women’s basketball team is no stranger to international competition, competing previously at the U18, U19 and senior levels.

On Tuesday, the university announced that Castro will, again, represent her native Argentina at the FIBA Women’s Americup. The tournament is slated to begin on June 11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and will run through June 19.

The honor comes off of what was a fantastic season for Castro from a personal performance standpoint. She was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team and led RMU in scoring with 9.9 points per game. In the process, Castro registered three double-doubles and topped the 20-point marker on two occasions.

After holding her own with the Colonials, Castro now joins Argentina as the third youngest member of their 12-player roster. Argentina is set to compete against the United States, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela in Group B play. Castro and company take on the Dominican Republic in the club’s first game. Competing in Group A are Brazil, Canada, the Virgin Islands, El Salvador and Columbia.

Argentina takes on Castro’s adopted home of America on June 15.
