Although no official visits will be made this week, that doesn’t mean the Pitt coaches aren’t hosting prospects.

All week, various players from different recruiting classes have been traveling to the South Side for unofficial visits. On Wednesday, one of those players that visited recently received an offer from Brennan Marion and Pitt.

Class of 2023 wide receiver/cornerback Takye Heath (5-foot-9, 155 pounds) from Highland Springs, Virginia spent the day working out for Marion and Pat Narduzzi at their facility and also took a tour of the complex along with the Pitt campus.

“A couple of weeks ago, I actually got my offer from Pitt,” Heath tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “It’s camp season, so I was like I need to get to a Pitt camp, so I decided to go down there to let the coaches see me and I did and had a good camp. We started by doing wide receiver drills and I work on my wide receiver drills almost every day. I thought I did great, my feet were really good and I was catching almost every ball thrown to me. Then they had me do some defensive back drills, so I moved to that side of the ball and was killing it. They told me that they loved what they saw.”

This was an important day for Heath because despite it only being an unofficial visit, he got the chance to really learn about everything that Pitt has to offer and had his first chance to interact face-to-face with Marion and the Pitt coaches.

“They really seemed like great people and great coaches along with being cool coaches. I was able to ask them any type of question and they gave me honest answers,” said Heath. “When I was on the field working, Coach Marion was trying to coach me up trying to get me to be the best player that I can be and I like that. He was working with me on getting in and out of my breaks, making sure I was snapping my head. I loved the Pitt facilities, they were so nice and the weight room was crazy,” said Heath. “I like the fact that they are connected to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Now that I got to really see them, this is very helpful for Pitt. I got to get a tour of the campus too and I like everything about the school.”

At this point of his recruitment, Heath holds offers from Pitt, Maryland and Virginia. Last week, he made an unofficial visit to Clemson. Heath plans on returning to Pitt this fall to attend a home game.
