Pitt’s Class of 2022 is back down to seven members.

While we can tell you that Pitt is no longer recruiting Statham, the exact reason for the split isn’t known at this point.
Statham, the younger brother of current Pitt offensive tackle Mike Statham, originally committed to Pitt back on January 11 and at that time, was the second member of their Class of 2022.
With the subtraction of Statham, Pitt’s current breakdown of recruits includes 4 defensive players (CB Ryland Gandy, DE Jimmy Scott, DT Sean FitzSimmons and DB Aveon Grose), 2 offensive players (WR Addison Copeland, RB Jordaan Bailey) and 1 specialist (P Sam Vander Haar).
So did Pitt pull the scholarship or did the young nan open up his recruitment?
