A big recruiting win for James Franklin as he grabs a local star from Western Pennsylvania.

Perry 4-star defensive end Tyreese Fearbry announced on Sunday that he would be committing to play college football at Penn State. The other three that Fearbry considered were Pitt, Kentucky and Auburn.

This big get ended a mini run of landing defensive standouts from Western Pennsylvania for Pat Narduzzi and Pitt. In the last two recruiting seasons, Pitt was able to beat Penn State for the signings of 4-star defensive end Dayon Hayes, 4-star defensive tackle Elliot Donald, 4-star defensive end Nahki Johnson and 3-star defensive tackle Dorien Ford.

Prior to his public announcement, Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke last week with Fearbry about this decision. We talked about things such as what about his official visit sold him on Penn State, why did he bypass Pitt, was it hard to leave home and his thoughts on what went on during his recruiting process over the last 9 months.
