On Sunday night, former St. John’s forward Julian Champagnie announced that he was withdrawing his name from the NBA Draft and coming back to St. John’s.
However, his brother, Justin Champagnie, is taking a different route.
Justin, the former Pitt star, confirmed to Pittsburgh Sports Now that he would be staying in the draft, even after his brother announced his return to St. John’s.
After one of the best seasons by a Pitt player in the program’s history, Champagnie declared for the NBA Draft and hired an agent. Since then, he has competed in the NBA Combine as well as participated in his Pro Day.
Champagnie put up strong numbers in the scrimmage portion of the combine, posting games of 11 points / 12 rebounds as well as 17 points / 8 rebounds.
at least based on the box scores, julian didn’t have the same scrimmage results as justin did in comparable minutes. could have been the team dynamics but not sure. i think justin held his own and probably was more impressive. H2P!
Will be fortunate to get drafted. Could have benefitted with a return to Pitt. Cant feel bad for him if he regrets this decision.
