Justin Champagnie Says That NBA Team Assured Him He is Their Pick

After announcing his intentions to test the NBA Draft Waters back on March 23, former Pitt star Justin Champagnie is now just two weeks away from the Draft, and July 29 is looking more and more like it is going to be a great day for him and his family.

After putting up stellar numbers at Pitt and dominating his competition at the NBA Combine, Champagnie knows that he has put himself into the position to be an NBA player. And now, after talking to several NBA teams, he knows that he is not the only one that believes in his talents.

When asked if any teams have given him assurance that they will take him if he falls to their pick, Champagnie smiled, and said, “Yes, they have.”

“I am not going to say what team, but yes,” Champagnie continued. “I am feeling confident. I am confident in myself, I am confident in my chances, so I am going to just run with that.”

Champagnie would not reveal the team name, or even hint at their colors, when asked by the media. However, he did share his plans for draft day, which will undoubtedly be one of the best days of his life.

“Draft Day, I am with my family,” he added. “My family has been with me through it all: ups, downs, highs, lows. I am just really happy to spend draft day with my family. Right now, I feel like I am going to be happy, but I might shed a tear because I have put a lot of hard work into it. Nobody really knows how much I have been through besides me and my family, so. I don’t know. I am excited to see how I react. I’ll definitely be smiling, might shed a little tear, but I am going to try to keep it gangster on the camera.”

I’ll be shocked if he gets drafted. Someone will definitely sign him and bring him to camp, but using an actual draft pick is not guaranteed…
