After three straight match victories in the Carolina Classic to begin the 2021 season, No. 7 Pitt volleyball (3-0) travels to Knoxville, Tennessee for two matches spanning Saturday and Sunday.
Pitt will face No. 9 Baylor (1-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. and host Tennessee (3-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m., all at the Thompson-Boling Arena.
All eyes will be on the top 10 non-conference matchup between the Panthers and Bears. The two last met on September 11, 2009, with Baylor sweeping the match 3-0, leading the all-time series 2-1.
The Blue and Gold defeated No. 23 Rice 3-2, No. 18 Washington State 3-1, then South Carolina 3-0 with each match garnering fewer sets to secure a victory and advance from No. 9 to No. 7 in the AVCA Poll. The sweep over the Gamecocks earned Head Coach Dan Fisher his 200th win in program history, becoming the 11th coach in Pitt history to break the milestone. The ninth-year coach joined Shelton Collier as the only other volleyball coach to reach 200 victories.
Baylor defeated No. 7 Minnesota 3-1 in their first match of the year before dropping their second to No. 2 Wisconsin 3-1, both during the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge in Madison, Wisconsin.
