CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — On Friday night, Pitt (2-6) fell to Virginia, 57-56, as a last-second shot by Jayden Gardner trickled in and sunk the Panthers.
Pitt led by four with under a minute left, and was looking to close out its third victory of the year. However, Gardner had other plans.
The 6-foot-6 forward hit an and-one bucket, cutting the lead to one. Next, the Cavaliers forced a five second violation by Pitt. What came next was three missed shots, followed by Gardner’s game-winning jumper that fell with just 0.9 seconds remaining.
Hear from Jeff Capel, John Hugley, and Onye Ezeakudo after the Panthers’ devastating loss.
