Pitt Football to Host Number of Top Recruits Tonight During Pitt-Duke Hoops Game

Back in the heyday of Jamie Dixon, the Pitt basketball program was regularly used as a recruiting tool for the Pitt football program.

The electricity inside a sold-out Petersen Events Center was something special and the football program tried to use that to their advantage.

Unfortunately for Pat Narduzzi, his program hasn’t been able to use the basketball team much as a positive to invite prospective recruits to but tonight is one of those nights.

The Duke Blue Devils are in town and its Coach K’s last road ACC road game so in that sense, it’s a meaningful game and The Pete should provide a good atmosphere. With that in mind, Narduzzi and his coaching staff have invited a number of local WPIAL standouts to tonight’s game.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that Pitt will host the following players tonight and a few of these players are major targets:

Ta’Mere Robinson: 2023 4-star linebacker from Brashear High School. Robinson’s major offer list includes Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami, Texas, USC and West Virginia. At this point, Robinson is considered a heavy Penn State lean.

Quinton Martin: 2024 4-star athlete from Belle Vernon High School. Martin’s major offer list includes Pitt, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Anthony Speca: 2024 4-star linebacker from Central Catholic High School. Speca’s major offer list includes Pitt, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan and West Virginia. At this point, Speca is considered a heavy Notre Dame lean.

Peter Gonzalez: 2024 wide receiver from Central Catholic High School. Gonzalez holds offers from Penn State, West Virginia, Maryland and Wisconsin.

Cam Lindsey: 2024 linebacker from Aliquippa High School. Lindsey holds offers from Pitt, UConn, Cincinnati, Toledo, West Virginia and Penn State.

Brandon Banks: 2024 defensive back from Aliquippa High School. Banks holds offers from Akron, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.

Donovan Walker: 2023 defensive back from Aliquippa High School. Walker holds offers from Akron, Albany, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Monmouth.

2023 4-star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher would have been on this list, but his undefeated Laurel Highlands basketball team (24-0) is practicing to play New Castle in the WPIAL Class 5A championship game on Friday night at Petersen Events Center.
