On Wednesday, Pitt walk-on Chayce Smith entered the transfer portal, moving on from the Panthers and looking to play as a graduate transfer at another school. He should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Smith walked on Senior Night, and was not expected to be back with the Pitt team next season. He appeared in four total games in his Pitt career, grabbing three rebounds in limited action. He made his college debut back in 2019-20, grabbing a rebound against Binghamton. Smith did not appear in any games this season. His departure does not add an open scholarship for next season, as he was a walk-on. The program still has seven scholarships to fill.
Smith is the son of Pitt Hall of Fame member Charles Smith, who is the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,045 points in his career. His number 32 was retired by Pitt, and he was elected into the school’s hall of fame in 2018. The younger Smith wore No. 42. He was one of two second-generation Panthers on the current squad, along with guard Curtis Aiken, Jr.
I heard today that the Pete is having a reliving door installed in the locker room.
Chapel needs extension. What a disgrace this program has become. Even walk ons leaving this program. They could start on this team.
