Former Duquesne G Primo Spears Hears From Oklahoma, 9 Other High Majors
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
Spears played in 30 games this season for the Dukes, averaging 12.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and three assists per game as a freshman. The guard shot 37% from the field and 30% from three-point range on the year, and capped off his year by scoring 30+ points in each of the last two games of Duquesne’s season.
Pitt, who recently added commitments from guard Nelly Cummings and forward Blake Hinson, now looks right down Fifth Avenue for its next target in Spears. The Panthers currently have six open scholarships for next year’s squad, as numerous players left to the transfer portal and Mo Gueye ran out of eligibility. As of now, the back court consists of Jamarius Burton, Nike Sibande, Nelly Cummings, and Nate Santos.
