Lance White continues his impressive off-season of adding talent to the Pitt women’s basketball 2022-23 roster.
On Tuesday, White announced the signing of Ohio State transfer forward Gabby Hutcherson, who will have three seasons of athletic eligibility remaining to play with the Panthers. Hutcherson was a 5-star recruit in the Class of 2020 and rated as the No. 12 overall prospect in the country.
In limited action with the Buckeyes, the 6’2″ Hutcherson averaged 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 36 career games.
“I’m extremely excited to add Gabby to our team,” said White. “She has a tireless work ethic and loves to compete. Gabby is a natural leader and will have an immediate impact on our team. Gabby’s length and versatility on both ends of the floor will really compliment the players we already have in place. She’s a winner and I am so excited she chose to be a Panther.”
While in high school at Westerville South, Hutcherson helped lead her team to a 62-17 record, two district titles as she averaged 14.4 points and was named the OCC-Buckeye Player of the Year.
Hutcherson joins Avery Strickland, Aislin Malcolm, Channise Lewis and Marley Washenitz as newcomers to next season’s roster.
