Locked On Pitt: Pitt Lands 5 Recruits Over the Weekend, but Are There Reasons to Worry?

Published

on

Pittsburgh Sports Now reporter Nick Farabaugh dives into Pitt Football, Basketball, and more daily on the Locked On Pitt Podcast.

Pitt Football had a big-time recruiting weekend by landing Montravius Lloyd, Rasheem Biles, Braylan Lovelace, and two others bringing their June commitment total to 11. However, is there a reason to be worried about the recruiting of Pat Narduzzi and his staff? Where is the ACC level bump?

With Pitt canceling so many visits, what can fans think of what occurred this past weekend? Why are Biles and Lovelace taking over some higher-rated prospects that were scheduled for this upcoming weekend? What does their tape say?

Then we look over this upcoming weekend. Just how likely is it that Pitt could land someone like Hykeem Williams? Could Pitt be in a position to land multiple offensive linemen? How much is at stake with the offensive lineman visiting this weekend?

Yes, the recruits from last weekend did not come close to the overall quality of the 1st weekend in June. Not a good sign that at least 4 ACC teams are ranked far above Pitt’s recruiting class. Pitt needs a Hykeem Williams plus a couple of highly touted 4-star guys to make a big jump up the ranks.

Sorry but 4 and 5 star recruits just don’t want to go to Pitt

Pitt needs to schedule visits by priority of the recruits. If all the lesser one commit early you will have the same situation as the 4 star they had no room for last year.

It is what it is. Pitt is and always has been a much better than average football program, but not elite. Clemson and even Florida State have more national name recognition and ACC pedigree. To recruit with the best, Ohio State, Alabama, etc, you must win consistently. Otherwise, get the best you can get and coach them up. Duz has proven he can.
