The Pitt athletic department has announced the signing of baseball coach Mike Bell to a contract extension.
Athletic director Heather Lyke says that the extension runs through the 2027 season.
Since his hiring in 2018, Bell has collected 83 wins and is coming of a 29-win season, which ties for the most in program history since joining the ACC in 2014.
“Pitt is where my family and I want to be, and we wouldn’t be happier to be in Pittsburgh for years to come,” said Bell. “Thanks to Chancellor Gallagher, Heather Lyke and her executive staff for their continued support, belief and confidence in our baseball program’s continued growth on the baseball diamond, and more importantly, our quest to compete for championships. Finally, I would like to thank my staff, support staff and all the student-athletes over the last four years that have poured endless hours into our program’s efforts to achieve PITT’s Golden Standards.”
“We are thrilled to extend Coach Bell’s contract and have him continue to lead our baseball program,” said Lyke. “The trajectory of the baseball program is a tribute to he and his staff’s expertise in recruiting, developing and preparing our team to compete in the ACC, as well as the quality of student-athletes he has recruited to Pitt.”
During his time at Pitt, Bell has developed four all-region honorees, nine All-ACC selections and five MLB Draft selections.
