If you wanted Pitt to stick with noon kickoffs, don’t hold your breath. It’s a return to primetime for Pitt up next.
Pitt will host Georgia Tech at Acrisure Stadium Saturday, Oct. 1 for an 8 p.m. kickoff — the third game played at or after 7:30 p.m. already this season — to kick off conference play. The television broadcast will be on ACC Network.
Pitt opened the season with two 7:30 p.m. kickoffs in the first three games, against West Virginia and Western Michigan, and the game sandwiched in between was a 3:30 p.m. kickoff against Tennessee. Pitt hosted Rhode Island for a noon kickoff this week, but the primetime slot is once again returning.
The first primetime game for Pitt in 2021 wasn’t until Nov. 11 against North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Pitt played UNC, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Michigan State in primetime to close out the 2021 schedule — the matches coming in four of the last five weeks.
Pitt is coming off a 45-24 win over Rhode Island to close non-conference play with a 3-1 record while Georgia Tech is coming off a 27-10 loss to UCF to close an opening slate that featured Clemson and Ole Miss with a 1-3 record.
Further details on the broadcast will be released later this week.
