PITTSBURGH — Pitt’s 26-21 loss to Georgia Tech is tied as third biggest upset in ACC play in the last 25 years, in terms of the spread.
The Panthers came in to the game as 21.5 favorites over the Yellow Jackets. The game it ties with is when North Carolina played then ranked No. 4 Miami, who also started out as 21.5 favorites, and won 31-28 in 2004.
The most recent unlikely win came when Syracuse defeated then ranked No. 4 Clemson, 27-24, in 2017. The Tigers started the game as 23.5 favorites over the Orange.
The biggest upset in the last 25 years saw NC State beat 26.5 favorites and then ranked No. 2 Florida State, 24-7, in 1998.
This is only the seventh time that a team favored by 21.5 lost a game since 2003. The record for a 21.5 favorite is 140-7, meaning that it has only happened 4.8% in those matchups.
It was not an upset, considering the Pitt has the worst OC in all of football. That includes high school and pop Warner. Wake up Narduzzi.
The OC has a QB tentative to throw the ball downfield until the Game is determined. Nervous as Neil O’Donnell back there. You can’t game manage yourself into a Loss like that. Poor QB play for most of Game. When he started throwing 15+ Yards it created some movement.
Charlie Thomas for GT played well.
No QB, No O-Line, no depth, Duzz and soon to be opt outs for NFL training equals what we knew after Pickett and Addison left. Bully coach talking like he has a good team and VuK whining about no respect. Joke
Thank God Pitt has you have as a fan. Troubles me to think what would happen if you ever left.
They would be in much more trouble, trust me.
GT did us a favor. Stuffing the line of scrimmage for 3-1/2 quarters, means they didn’t respect the long ball. Adapt the game plan, injuries should start healing. Foremost Patti and Hammond.
