Stony Brook redshirt sophomore and former Pine Richland linebacker Tyler King announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Monday.
King played 20 games for the Seawolves from the Spring 2020 season to 2022. He made 148 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, five pass breakups and one interception as a Seawolf.
His best season came in 2021, where he made 95 tackles, 50 solo, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble. For his efforts, he made the Phil Steele FCS Freshman First Team All-American, Hero Sports Freshman All-American team, the Phil Steele All-CAA team and 2nd Team All-CAA. King also finished as a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award (Best FCS rookie), twice earned CAA Player of the Week honors and his teammates voted him defensive MVP.
King still has two years left of eligibility. He already announced offers from both local FCS schools in Duquesne and Robert Morris. Three more FCS schools offered a scholarship to King in McNeese State, Norfolk State and Eastern Kentucky.
It shouldn’t be long until FBS offers start rolling around.
