Some encouraging recruiting news for the Pitt Panther football program.
Wide receiver Dante Cephas, one of the most coveted offensive players in the transfer portal, will be making a visit today to see Pat Narduzzi and check out the Panthers program. This will be a one-day visit, as he’s expected to visit Penn State tomorrow.

Chris Peak from Pantherlair.com previously reported that Cephas has already made a visit to the South Side earlier this week, so this would be multiple visits for Cephas to check out Pitt.
Narduzzi, Frank Cignetti, Jr. and Tiquan Underwood are no doubt trying to sell Cephas on playing his last year in college for his hometown team, work with an established quarterback and NFL prospect like Phil Jurkovec and the possibly be the Panthers top wideout, depending on what Jared Wayne decides to do.
Considering the attention he’s receiving from major programs, getting the attention of Cephas is big. Since entering the transfer portal, the former Penn Hills star has received offers from Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Miami, Oklahoma, Kansas, Notre Dame, Penn State and West Virginia.
Cephas broke out with a 1,240-yard, nine-touchdown performance campaign in 2021, and he followed it up with 48 receptions for 744 yards and three touchdowns this season — in just nine games.
With 130 receptions for 1,984 yards (15.3 yards per reception) and 12 touchdowns over the last two seasons, Cephas has earned back-to-back All-MAC first-team honors at wide receiver.
This would be a huge get and is really needed after Mean’s disappointing season. Let’s go!
Obviously it would be a big get, but Means is a talented athlete. Means will make significant progress in his second year. This will be the second year of Cignetti’s system and Means will have a better understanding of his system. He will be able to play faster.
Hope you’re right because he does look like a good athlete!
Being a great athlete doesn’t matter if your a WR and struggle for consistency in catching catchable balls.
good athletes play DB because they can’t catch
understanding a system doesn’t cure you of the drops. Means is what he is and not sure he will make big jumps at this stage of his athletic career.
He’s on an official at PSU this weekend and 247 has him 100% to PSU
No doubt Franklin will have his symbolic check book on display. Hopefully Cephas will see a greater opportunity at Pitt, which clearly has the better q.b. Franklin has plenty of other receivers on the roster to manipulate. At Pitt, Cephas will be the 1 or 2 receiver.
Penn State has the better QB next year. Drew Allar, 5* from Ohio.
What good is it at Pitt to be the #1 receiver when you run the ball all day? I’m sure he’s not transferring to block all game.
What good is it to sit on the bench behind all of Franklin’s ringers? Aller hasn’t played a down. Jurkovic didn’t transfer to hand off. Wayne had 1000 yards receiving. 1000 yards isn’t blocking all game. Jurkovic played under Cignetti for two seasons. Obviously, more passing is in the plan.
PSU loses top two receivers to the NFL and Allar played quite a bit this year, check the tape.
Thank goodness Phil played for Cig for two years. Problem solved, if he stays healthy (which he never has).
Cephas is PSU bound
Slovis didn’t transfer to hand off either but then again he’s not as good as Jurkovic
Form all we heard when Slovis arrived he was gonna set the world on fire. Now Phil is better? Not sure if that’s the case, he will be ok IF he can stay healthy
So you ever have anything positive to say on here?
lots of positives…..but it’s also honest without fan blinders.
Please 🤡
You truly are entertaining will give you that … but still a 🤡 air state penn ! 😂
It is great to see opportunities provided by the transfer portal.
Imagine going from Penn Hills to Kent State to receiving offers from Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Miami, Oklahoma, Kansas, Notre Dame, Penn State and West Virginia.
Hopefully the idea of playing just down the parkway is intriguing enough for him to return home and catch passes from another local kid who is coming back to where he should have been all along.
