Duquesne continues to revamp the coaching staff and the roster under the new leadership of head coach Dru Joyce.

Duquesne announced Monday afternoon the hiring of Chase Goldstein, who served as the Director of Basketball Operations/Chief of Staff at Missouri over the last two seasons, as an assistant coach.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Duquesne basketball family,” said Goldstein. “There is a lot of momentum around the program and the University coming off a highly successful season thanks to an Atlantic 10 title and NCAA Tournament appearance. Coach Joyce is the perfect coach to lead the Dukes and continue to build on that recent success. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work side-by-side with him as we establish Duquesne as one of the premier programs in college basketball.”

“Chase Goldstein has all the tools necessary to excel in leading our student-athletes,” said Duquesne head coach Dru Joyce III. “He will star in his new role as assistant coach, guiding the staff in program and player development. Through his journey, Coach Goldstein has elevated every staff he has been a part of, holding guide Missouri to an NCAA Tournament in his first year. I know Coach Goldstein will continue to share his knowledge and experience with our student-athletes and undoubtedly help strive for championships in the classroom, on the court and in the community.”

It’s the first assistant coaching job for Goldstein, who has a long and impressive resume despite his young age. The thing that stands out about Goldstein’s resume is that he has worked directly with 10 postseason teams during his young career.

Prior to his two seasons at Missouri, Goldstein was also with Dennis Gates at Cleveland State, serving as his Director of Basketball Operations. This is where Goldstein worked with Joyce.

Before that, Goldstein spent two seasons with Leonard Hamilton and Florida State on his video coordination staff and was with the Seminoles for their first Elite Eight Run during the 2017-18 season.

In 2019, while with Florida State, Goldstein was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 30 Under 30 Team, which recognizes the most outstanding men’s basketball coaches under the age of 30.

Goldstein also spent time with Florida Gulf Coast in 2016-17 as their assistant coordinator of operations. During that season, Florida Gulf Coast won a school-record 26 games and the program’s first Atlantic Sun regular-season title.

During the 2015-16 NBA season, Goldstein was with the Charlotte Hornets as the team’s video coordinator. In his role, he edited opponent clips, generated personnel for opponents’ offensive and defensive sets and compiled video edits for potential playoff matchups.

It appears as though Goldstein is the replacement for long-time Duquesne assistant coach Terry Weigand. The new coaching staff includes Goldstein, Rick McFadden, Steve Wright, Ari Stern, Gabe Samangy (GA) and William Swartz (GA).
