PSN’s Bubble Watch: Tracking the Close Race for the Last NCAA Tournament Bids

From now until Selection Sunday (March 12), college basketball teams from all across the nation will be trying to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

36 at-large teams make the tournament, in addition to 32 conference tournament champions who earn an automatic bid.

As Pitt moves along with its season, PSN will be tracking the performance of the teams on the ‘bubble,’ that is, the teams that are fighting for those last spots out of the 36 at-large openings in the bracket.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC
No. 19 Florida Atlantic (21-2) lost to UAB, 86-77. Will likely drop from the Top 25 rankings.

COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
College of Charleston (21-3) lost to Drexel, 70-69.

WISCONSIN
Wisconsin (13-8) won on the road at Ohio State, 65-60. Ohio State has now lost eight of its last nine and falls to 11-11.

MICHIGAN
Michigan (12-7) won on the road at Northwestern (15-7). It was just Michigan’s second road win of the season.

ARIZONA STATE
Arizona State (16-7) beats Oregon State, 68-57.

OREGON
Oregon (13-10) loses to No. 5 Arizona, 91-76. Oregon had won eight of the last nine between the two teams.

USC
USC (16-6) beats Washington State, 80-70.

GAMES TO KEEP AN EYE ON FOR TONIGHT:  
VCU (17-6) at Saint Louis (15-7). It’s a battle for First Place in the Atlantic-10 Conference.

Boise State (18-5) at No. 22 San Diego State (17-5). It’s a battle for First Place in the Mountain West Conference.

Kent State (18-4) at Akron (16-6). It’s a battle for First Place in the MAC Conference.

Air Force (12-11) at Nevada (17-6).
