PITTSBURGH — Former Pitt and current Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin sat court side at the Petersen Events Center Tuesday night as Pitt basketball hosted Georgia Tech.
A McKees Rocks native and Central Catholic High School alum, Hamlin was selected by Buffalo in the 6th round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played five seasons from 2016-2020, staying home to play for head coach Pat Narduzzi. Hamlin totaled 290 tackles, 27 passes defended, 10 tackles for loss, and six interceptions in 48 career games.

He started 13 of 15 games for the Bills in 2022, totaling 91 tackles, six tackles for loss, two passes defended, one forced fumble, and 1.5 sacks from his safety position.
Hamlin’s cardiac arrest mid-game cardiac arrest on Jan. 2 in Cincinnati – in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football – swept the nation and rose awareness about the importance of CPR. Following the injury, Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation raised over $9 million and shattered the initial goal of $2,500.
