Over the last couple of years, the Pitt football program has signed a number of former defensive backs from the WPIAL and on Monday, they started the process of potentially adding another one.

Former Serra Catholic defensive back Pharoh Fisher announced that he’s received a preferred walk-on opportunity from Pitt.

Fisher (6-foot, 195 pounds) is a former two-star recruit from the class of 2022 and has had an interesting journey before arriving at this point.

Back in August of 2021, Fisher made a verbal commitment to play at Navy but then de-committed exactly one month later. Following his senior season, Fisher then committed and signed to play for Air Force over other offers from Army, Bowling Green and Columbia.

After a year at the Air Force Academy, Fisher made the decision earlier this month to relocate to another school.

“I want to thank Coach Calhoun for the opportunity to come to the United State Air Force Academy and play for the Bolt Brotherhood,” said Fisher. “I’d also like to thank the entire prep school staff for all the time and effort they’ve put in for me during my time here. With that being said, I will be leaving the Air Force Academy. I am now in the Class of 2023 and my NCAA clock has not started yet. I do not have to enter the transfer portal, and have all NCAA eligibility left as well as a redshirt year.”

Pitt is potentially looking to add Fisher to Archie Collins’ secondary to possibly team up with former WPIAL defensive backs M.J. Devonshire, Stephon Hall, Cruce Brookins and Dante Caputo.
