Gilbert and his family made an unofficial visit to Pitt on March 17 and talked to PSN about the highlights.

“What stood out to me was the way the Pitt coaches interacted with the players,” Gilbert tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “It looked like the players genuinely enjoy being and playing in the Pitt program. I really enjoyed conversations with Coach Tiquan, he is a good dude. The facilities are all very nice and resourceful. I have seen Pitt throughout the years, with my family legacy going through there, but it was nice to get my opportunity to see things and experience it for myself. It was important that I got the personal touch from the coaches and staff.”

“Pitt is just keeping it real with me about how the players enjoy being there and it’s like everywhere else, that I will have to fight and earn my spot, but there will be an opportunity.”

Micah’s father is Mark, a former talented multi-sport athlete at Aliquippa High School, that then played D-1 basketball at Iona and Duquesne. His uncle, Sean, is well known for playing at Pitt and becoming a first-round pick. Micah’s cousins are former Pitt star and recent NFL Hall of inductee cornerback Darrelle Revis, along with former Pitt star and NY Jets safety Jordan Whitehead. It doesn’t stop there as his brother, Mark Jr., starred at Duke and is currently a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

March was a busy month for Gilbert as he made unofficial visits to Pitt, Clemson, South Carolina, Penn State, Michigan and North Carolina.
