Duquesne will be hosting two players this weekend that would appear to fill the roles of needed spots on their 2023-24 roster.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that both Anderei Savrasov and Letray Darthard are in town today making official visits with the Dukes.

Savrasov is a 6’7″, 225-pound forward from St. Petersburg, Russia. Savrasov started his college career with Texas Tech. He was with the Red Raiders program for two seasons, redshirting his first and only averaging 4 minutes per game in the 2019-20 season.

Savrasov then made the decision to transfer to Georgia Southern and has played there the last 3 seasons. This past season, he averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, while shooting 49.8% from the field and 35.9% from 3-point range. During the 2021-22 season, Savrasov averaged 10.7 points, 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.6% from the field and 31.7% from 3-point range.

It would appear that Savrasov could provide the Dukes a similar role to what R.J. Gunn provided last season.

Darthard is a 6’4″, 180-pound junior guard from Denton, Texas. Last season with Utah Valley State, Darthard averaged 13.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 42.5% from the field and 35.6% from 3-point range. The previous two seasons, he shot an impressive 37.6% and 47.1% from beyond the arc.

Since entering the portal, Darthard has been a player in high demand, having been contacted by Pepperdine, SMU, Ole Miss, UIC, Murray St., Loyola Chicago, Seton Hall, George Mason, UTEP, California, Oral Roberts, St. Bonaventure, Portland, Missouri St., North Texas, Providence, TCU and East Carolina.

Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!

Darthard would be asked to fill the role and minutes of graduated guard Tevin Brewer.

Darthard led Utah Valley State to two impressive wins in the NIT this season over Colorado and Cincinnati.
