Update On Pitt Target Class of 2024 3-Star Quarterback Henry Hasselbeck

It would appear that Pitt is no longer an option for Henry Hasselbeck.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that the three-star quarterback did not make his official visit to Pitt this weekend as originally planned.

Hasselbeck and four-star Trever Jackson have been Pitt’s top two targets at quarterback, but it looks like Hasselbeck is no longer an option. At the moment, all things look like Hasselbeck is a heavy lean towards committing to Michigan State.

The Massachusetts native has made three official visits: Michigan State (June 2), Boston College (June 9) and UAB (June 19). He intended to visit Pitt for his fourth official visit but that didn’t happen.

If Hasselbeck does indeed land in East Lansing, this leaves Pitt in an interesting position in terms of recruiting a quarterback for the Class of 2024. Pitt’s top three targets have been Jackson, Hasselbeck and three-star Miles O’Brien, who recently committed to Texas A&M. This will be a lot of pressure on Pitt to reel in Jackson, unless something changes with Georgia 3-star quarterback Judd Anderson, who’s currently committed to Miami.

Following his performance at the Elite 11 competition in California, Jackson picked up a new offer from UCLA and received an invitation to attend the U.S. Army All-American Game.

A top ranked QB recruit is a critical missing piece to the pipeline pie. Without elite QB talent, almost all other recruits are a great deal less meaningful. That said, I believe Pitt is currently in good steed for at least the next few years with Jurkovec this year, and Christian Veilleux thereafter. So thankfully, there is still time to land a top QB of the future.
