On Tuesday, Pitt target Joe Toussaint, a former West Virginia guard, committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders weeks after entering the transfer portal.
Just one day before, Toussaint had included Pitt in his top three along with Texas Tech and Kansas State.
Toussaint is a 6-foot guard out of the Bronx, N.Y. He has played four years of college hoops up until this point, and has graduated — which means he will be an immediately eligible graduate transfer. Toussaint began his career at Iowa, playing three seasons in Iowa City for the Hawkeyes and averaging 6.5, 3.7, and 4.3 points per game as his career went on. He then transferred to WVU ahead of last season and posted the best numbers of his career for the Mountaineers.
Last year, he scored over nine points per game despite only making one start. He shot 37% from the field, and hit a career-best 32% of his three-point attempts. He also dished out 2.6 assists and grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game in just 21.8 minutes of action on average.
Toussaint hit the portal shortly after former Mountaineer head coach Bob Huggins resigned following his DUI charge.
